I just ordered an M577 (Tamiya), and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good reference for it. I'd like to build a modern one, and possibly scratch the interior.

Can anyone tell me the changes to the A1, etc. versions? I'm scheming to build an M113, and I'm looking for info on that one too, expecially the A2/A3 versions. Can you recommend a good late-version M113 kit?

Academy's M113 kit, I think is the best. The latest version of the 113 family actualy has a stirring yoke and a brake pedal like in a Bradley.

Verlinden Publications has two very nice refs on the M113 family.
Warmachines N 2 (ISBN 90-70932-19-9) covers the M113 A1/A2 - M106 A1/A2 - M577 A1/A2.
Warmachines N 9 covers the M163 A1/A2 Vulcan - M901 A2 TOW - M48 A2 Chaparral.
These books feature full color photos, both interior and exterior of all the types covered.
I got mine on Amazon.com, and I remember seeing them listed at Squadron.com.

Don't forget the Squadron Signal M113 in Action #2017 and the old Osprey Vanguard #34 M113 Series. Also check out the various "Armor in the Vietnam Wars" books, there will be good info on the 113 series in there.

I made one a couple of years ago, really a good model straight from the box, with a few add ons, it's a masterpiece.....
I'll upload some photos of my model in the gallery today, maybe it can be usefull visualizing the model completed in 3D...

I looked all over the internet to find good pics to scratchbuild my M577.
I strongly advise you to find a copy of Verlinden's "warmachines" (no 2?) book on the M113 and M577. It shows detailed pics, inside and out. I saw a copy on a model show.... after I completed my model
All pics you'll find on the internet show the whole machine from the sides. No details, no views from the top...
The M577 Technical manual (someone copied me a few pages) shows a few drawings on details, mainly on the tent structure. If I find the time before my holiday, I'll scan them and post them here. I'm sure other users of this forum have the whole manual.

Concord's M113 in U.S. Service is pretty good also, if it is still in print.

The best reference for the M113 series of vehicles is, believe it or not, the Hunnicutte book on the Bradley. The book has coverage of all the personel carriers prior to the Bradley. Only problem is the price but IMHO well worth it in the long run.

Academy M113 and versions are better than all,but has soft plastic tracks.Italeri tracks are in pieces....just an opinion
