Hello,
I recently bought an Academy M-10 tank destroyer. And now I'm allready confused with the many options this kit has to offer. I want to build a m-10 with was used by the US army in belgium 1944. Which tracks and weels (the "open" or the "closed") do I have to use?
My other question is about the interior. In the kit is a very nice interior included, but here are some options aswell. Does anyone have some reference pictures of the interior of a M-10 tank destroyer?
Many thanks

Good site.
But... "The M36 was the sole American weapon capable of defeating the latest Königstiger King Tiger and Jagdtiger tanks while maintaining a comfortable stand-off distance. "
That notion of comfort is relative to where the M36 is in relation to either!

Hi Martin,
I already built the M-10, it's quite a nice kit. What wheels you use depends on the kit. Do you have the late duck-bill counterweight M-10 or an earlier version (wedge counterweight etc...)
Wedge-Counterweight
The later the M10 the more common were the closed wheels. There are also tanks with mixed wheels. (So its quite up to you, what you prefer)
On pictures you often see M10 with T51 tracks (this one is in the Duckbill M10 kit), but there where also M10 with T48 tracks.
As long as you don't want to build one specific M-10 you have the freedom of choice.
Have fun building!

Hi Fabian
Thanks for te reply, I've got the earlier version (not the duck-bill). I'll build the kit with the tracks from the box. (T49 tracks, I guess). And have chosen for the closed wheels. I hope I can make some pictures when it's finished.

I love your M-10 John, did you make straight out of the box or did you make some modifications? How did you made the dirt on the front and site of the tank?
And another question, how did you paint the tracks, I don't have any experience with the painting of flexible tracks.
Thanks Martin

Hi,
I've finished a M10 but it's from Tamiya's kits,not Academy's.
You can look at it in here:

By the time you see this, the M10 is listing on Ebay by one of my friend in Maine, just for fun and I want to know how much my work values. But really unfortunately nobody likes it.

hi Martin, glad you like the kit.themodel is basiclly out of the box I added a aluminium barrel because the kit one is yuk.the .30 &.50 are from the academy us machine gun set, thats really worth buying some good detail on them, the jerry cans are from Italieri, best on the market for the price.and thats it all the rest comes in the box. painting the tracks I did a dark brown wash with humbrol enamels to get into all the nooks and crannies then i did a lighter rusty brown wash then I rubbed pencil graphite over the raised detail that comes in contact with the ground. re the mud, its polyfilla mixed with a cheap brown acrylic paint and a little sand and some dried coffee grounds from my perculator i slapped it on then when it dried I dry brushed it with a lighter earth colour.Hope this helps
