I just bought some photoetched tracks for my Panzer IV and they look great with a lot of detail. I noticed that you can put them in any position since they are very bendable. The question I would like to know is, how do you paint photoetched tracks and keep the paint from flaking off?

Altough I have never heard of PE tracks; here goes, from experience with other PE parts: make sure you wash the PE parts in soapy water , prime then paint. Priming is the crucial step. Hope this helps.

PE or white metal? If you mean white metal (like Fruil tracks) you should be able to spray a coat of metalizer on as a base which should be pretty stable. Extended handling will rub tuis off, but just touch up after assembly. Seal with dullcoat. I've had metal figures I painted over twenty years ago that have not lost any paint and they weren't even washed or primed.

Ok guys, let me make myself clear. When I say photoetched tracks they are brass tracks in 1/72nd scale.

Ooooh - I'd like to see a pic of those in 1/72nd scale.
My best advice is what everyone else has already alluded to. Keep a extra amount of the basic and weathering colors you used to finish your tracks. Apply the tracks to the model and then touch them up in any places worn away. If you seal the tracks in Dull Cote - you'll get less damage in handling them - unless you're really having a difficult (rough) time getting them on the model. Keep touching them up until you get them settled in place and are no longer handling them...
