Just saw that Echelon decals has released markings for Australian LAV-25, and just wondering if there are any kits to make this, either straight out of the box or by conversion?

A company called cutting edge have just released a conversion set for the Trumpeter kit. However this set looks dreadful, Terry Ashley has done a good review of it on PMMS, in on the main page. The conversion set looks very poor and features things such as wheels with a competely flat side on the rear, and poorly detailed exhuast. Doesnt look at all worth it. I would try scratch building the conversion, it doesnt look to difficult and Hobby fan make a nice set of tyres for it.

Mouse Armour makes a conversion set for the ASLAV for both the Trumpeter and Revell-Germany LAV 25 kits. The conversion is pretty good and includes both resin, a metal barrel, and photo-etched parts.

The Echelon Fine Details decal set looks very nice but there are a couple of things to note about the set:

-The ASLAVs in the decal set are the Type 1 Phase 3...these have additional modifications from the Type 1 Phase 2 ASLAV...the Mouse Armour ASLAV conversions are for the Type 1 Phase 2 ASLAV...the decals can easily be adapted for a Type 1 Phase 2 vehicle.

-One of the ASLAV decals in the set is for an ASLAV fitted with bar armour to the turret and bar armour fittings on the hull...this is very nice except that there is no aftermarket bar armour set for any ASLAV conversion.

I have the Mouse Armour conversion and will also be picking up the decal set. I plan to build a Type 1 Phase 2 ASLAV as deployed originally to Iraq with OP Falconer....very colourfull with the large orange air recognition panels on the sides of the hull and rear door.

There are no change's to the markings on the ASLAV Type 1 Phase III with or without Bar Armour.
And now to made it worse Phase IV is now starting to be instigated.
But there wont be that many chages on the outside.
