Hi Richard, it depends on what your trying to do with PE, there is a selection of different tools you can use be it rolling or folding.

Well for folding there is the Etch mate or the hold n fold, I believe you can get both from Hannants, as for rolling you can use pretty much any metal rod (such as a hobby knife handle) but there are a couple of different specially made tools for this task too, again have a look at the Hannants website.

Hi Richard,
I am a bit of a tool fanatic and spend a lot of money on any and all tools/accesories that I can find.
I have everything from Mission models, and plenty from many other manufactures (BTW this does not make me a great modeller, I'm still a novice). However the 2 tools that I find myself using almost all the time when it comes to photo-etch, are both the Tamiya photo etch "bending pliers" and their diamond file #400.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Matthew

I have the Small Shop's Hold & Fold kit which includes a set of wooden dowels and metal rods for curved bending along with the adjustable metal brake for folding.
MicroMark has a couple of neat looking aluminum graduated doewls/rods for bending curves of various radii that would completely replace the loose set of wood dowels and metal rods. I have been considering picking them up.

Hi Richard
I've use a Hold and fold from the small shop..(brilliant bit of kit)
http://www.thesmallshopeu.com/
and two pairs of smooth jawed pliers, one flat and the other tapered,
These come from Maplins or from the market for a couple of quid a pair
Apart from these I only use a scalpel and tweezers.

Hi Richard,
I have to admit that I am sold on the Hold & Fold '5' Speed as it is so versatile, being jammed packed with different sized fingers to suit many applications.
I was so impressed I did a review and wonder if my thoughts might assist you in your deliberations.

Happy New Year.

I got one for Christmas and agree completely. I'm a newbie at using PE and have already found that it improves my work tremendously.
