Hey boys,
Strange question here,
Has there been any useage of German armor in any post WW2 conflict? I know thousands apon thousands of Axis vehicals were still active after the war, and not all could have been designated for the scrap heap. Might lead to an interesting dio topic. What do ya think?

Hi.
Littlefield's Armor museum has a PZIV that was formally Syrian tank. I have seen photos of a bunch of German WW2 equipment and tanks (usually IV's) that were used in Egypt and the middle eastern countries in the Israeli conflicts late 40's 50's and 60's
Cheers

Syria received a hodgepodge of repaired vehicles in the 1950's, notably Panzer IV Ausf. J and Sturmgeschutz III. Reportedly also one or two Hummel and Jagdpanzer IV. Several Panzer IV's were destroyed by the Israelis, though most (not all) had been dug in as bunkers.
Spain and Turkey received Panzer IV's, and used them well into the postwar period, though not in battle. Finland used some German and Soviet wartime equipment (mainly for training) postwar.
Egypt recycled a few ex-Afrika Korps pieces in 1948, including a self propelled 15cm on Panzer II chassis.
The Czechs and Swiss used the Hetzer postwar.

Hi there
:[]--
I don't know anything about this topic, but I think its interesting.
I never thought of anyone using German vehicles for service after WWII. I always thought that the victors' equipment would be preferred and used. But of course, there must have been tons and tons of old Hanomags, PzIV, Opel Blitz etc. etc.
Very interesting, and thanks for the enlightment
Cheers
