Does anyone have a good reference, or references, for the U.S. Heavy M103 tank?
I'm currently trying to build a resin M103 kit, but the kit directions are practically non-existent, and no box art).
I've searched the net extensively for M103 pictures, and have found some, but not many that show a lot of detail (just overall shots).
Any sources mentioned would be deeply appreciated. Thanks.

Another reference, if you're close enough, is the Military Museum at Fort Lewis near Tacoma, Washington. In the AFV park outside the museum building they have an M103. Huge freakin' thing, I can tell you. Looks like an M48 on serious steroids. Anyway, the thing would make an excellent subject for photography. At the moment, photography on the base is technically forbidden but that hasn't always been the case. The MPs themselves think the restriction is stupid; they have better things to do than arrest somebody documenting a 50-year-old antique on the museum grounds. Last time I was there I was in company with a retired artillery officer who looked at the placement and wording of signage and declared that photographing the tanks in the park would not be an issue if done discreetly. In typical military fashion, the very understandable desire to keep prying eyes from documenting active duty environs has been made a universal policy even in areas where it doesn't make any sense.

If you were to check the last four or five issues of Military Miniatures in Review (MMiR), there was an article concerning the resin M103 heavy tank. Well done, with history of the development and use by both the Army and USMC, a detailed critique of the kit out of the box, and the tricks used to complete a very large and impressive armor model.

If my memory serves, there is an M-103 along Louisiana Route 171 just outside Fort Polk. It is one of those "gate guards" that marks the entrance to the base. If you can get down that way, it might be worth the effort...
