I have just recently completed the Tamiya Char B1 bis. The kit is excellent in detail and fit. I built this OOB. The tracks were a dream. I HATE link to link tracks but these snapped together in 5 minutes for workable tracks that look good and painted nice.
My last few kits have been time consuming detailed projects so I wanted something to build quick and try the french cammo scheme.
I sprayed the hull witht he light Yellow/brown color and brushed the cammo scheme on.
Comments welcome.

I like the camo, it looks excellent and goes to show what you can do with a good brush. What brand of paints did you use, BTW?

I used Humbrol. I think they are best for covering with thin coats and brushing.
the figure from Tamiya is anemic at best and almost looks under scale. When I started this there were not any AM figures available.
I want to do one of these tanks in German Gray.

Mike, I would suggest using a thin (neutral) wash to 'tone-down' and blend-in the camo a bit. Apart from that - nice build..

Mike, Use a very thin coating of the base coat yellow sprayed at a distance. That will tone it down and blend it in. Then use an earth colour sprayed around the bottom of the hull and running gear.

Nice build and good job on the intricate camouflage scheme Mike, I agree with Jim and Vinnie, a wash and some over spray with the base colour will all help tie the colours together.

For the base coat I used Humbrol 94 and the cammo was Humbrol 73 (rust) and Humbrol 102 (green). The black outline was Tamiya NATO black.
I painted a scrap with differnet shades of olive green till I found the shade I was looking for.

I will give it a try. I dont want to over do it as I wanted it newish/barely used looking. I am contemplating a diorama if I can find some good French figures. The setting may determine how weathered it looks.

First let me apologize for the qualityu of the photos. I jsut realized how bright the thing looks. I can assure you that it is no where near that bright. After the initial painting, I used Testors Dullcoate to seal it. I then applied a few washes to dirty it up followed by some dry brushing - not too much.
I used a 35mm film camera and a flash. I think I need to work with different lighting.

Nemrod do some nice resin tank crew figures
Figures in This set have flat backs for lounging up against the side of the tank.
There is also this New set which I haven't bought (yet).
Nemrod also do a third set with one soldier holding a dog and another scraping the sole of his boot. Make your own jokes....

Looks good. Put a drop of black down the barrel of the 75mm.
