I finished this the same time I finished the Char B1 bis.

This is the DML SU-100 with an Eduard PE set (some of it anyway) and MV Lenses, and a Jordi Rubio barrel. I used Humbrol Paints. The figures are from the Tamiya Russian Tank Crew at Rest set.

I had a bad time with the decals and will probably scrape them off and go for a hand painted number. I tried to salvage them with decal softner but it just did not correct the slivering.

Overall this is a very nice kit. It does have some soft detail in areas but builds into a nice kit.

Comments welcome.

Great looking SU 100 You may wanna try to darken up the metal part on the saw and spare links They look a bit new Bare metal can be hard to replicate

It looks worse in the photos. I used a rust colored pigment/Artist chalk and blackened it with a wash. I think the flash is accenting the metal part.

Very nice overall.

Like you saided the decals are kinda breaking the illusion. Maybe try to paint/weather around the numbers to blend them into the structure. It could salvage the look without the pain of removing them and painting numbers by hand.

The crew look very blend paintwise. They look like they only received a basecoat of paint. They would greatly benefit from a few washs and highlits (particularly on the faces).

Very nice Mike. I know what you mean to try and photograph it the way it actually looks. Very difficult! Some of the modelers here are also fine photographers which is a great skill to have...

Here's a recent experiment, the first with a flash and the second lit naturally, both photos taken outside on a slightly overcast day.

Cheers, Gary

Your photos are excellent. Did you use a digital camera or film?

I know what you mean about the figures. I was thinking about a diorama and was waiting to see what other figures I may use.
