Here's a little idea I had last night for a campaign. This would involve building 2 related vehicles from different era. So if you build a ww2 flak vehicle you complement it with a modern one. If you build a ww2 US truck than you would complement it with an modern one like an HEMMT, etc...

Sample of what I mean:
Wirbelwind & Gepard
M13/40 & C1 Ariete
Willys & Humvee
Panther & Leopard 2
Sherman & M1

This would be a great occasion for people who are stuck in one era to try their hands at something different.

Opinion on this?

I think it is a great idea!

It could be fun to do. Maybe a Tiger I and a Leopard I? - or a self propelled Maxim quad and a SA-6?

Hey! That´s a good idea! It would be a good change in mood build a WWII era AFV, I haven´t done it in years (for a WWII exclusive).

Count me in if it´s approved.

Cheers

Nice idea. Might take awhile for each one to complete their respective kits though. Its hard enough for some to finish off one kit in 6 months.

Im in though.

Maybe seeing as it has two vehicles involved, the Armorama staff may make an exception and extend the time period from the standard 6 months to maybe 9 or something?

I would love to do this, right now I'm thinking of putting a T-34 beside a T-72 or -80

I'll give a go at submitting the campaign. We'll see what the Armora staff think about it

I suppose that we could go with a 10 months deadline as this involve 2 vehicles.

I see no problem with your idea of WW1 vs WW2. On the contrary this could lead to some interesting duo

I still have a Tauro Sturmpanzerwagen A7V in my stash. It would look funny beside a Leo 2A6 :-)

Something like this perhaps?

German tanks in 25 year intervals.

I like it! It'll be interesting to see the pairings folks come up with.

Would two kits of the same vehicle, but offered quite some time apart so as to highlight the changes in the state of moldmaking art also count?

I'm thinking the ancient and horrid Tamiya Panther A, and the newest DML premium Panther A late.
Or the Tamiya 88 and a newer AFV Club one.

MLD: I'm sorry that would not be an option. The idea is to show the evolution of the vehicle themselves not the companies that make plastic kits

Bjorn: Exactly what I have in mind What's even better in that case is that you were able to come up with the same timeframe between each one.

Would it be possible to take a pic with all four beside each others and with better lighting?

Hmmmm......Very interesting idea. Pretty danged original if you ask me!

So, on the "wheeled" side of the house: perhaps a GMC 2-1/2 ton CCKW 353 (Tamiya) and an M925 5 ton (Italeri)? 1940's and 1980/90's......

Been needing a reason to do both.

Campaigns for the first half of 2007 have been chosen and Father & Son is not one of them.

Thanks for those who show some interest. And see you in mid-2007 or start of 2008 for another try

Dont be too discouraged folks. I will definitely throw this into the mix for the second half.

I was actually hoping that this campaign would go but the vote went against it. Suggest we try to get more support for this campaign in the meantime.

No problem Jeremy, that's part of the game

Will try to find some way of upping the interest for this campaign.

Checking the campaigns section, it appears that this campaign is now down for an August 1st start date....

My question is, would Cromwell-Comet be Father-Son enough? Or would I have to go Cromwell-Centurion, or beyond that even?

It is true, this campaign has been given the go-ahead for the second half. Richard has been made aware as well. For any questions as to what will be acceptable, please get ahold of him.

Neil, I find the Cromwell-Comet too close enough for comfort

Cromwell or Comet -> Centurion or Chally would be a better choice for this campaign.

I will start a new Recruiting Center thread in the next few days. Just need to clear some RL stuff presently

Since I quit my job this week I will have pretty much modelling time now

I am thinking an Elefant (ww2) and a Panzerhaubitze 2000 (as modern as it gets). They do look like father&son after all.

Hi Emre,

A better match would be an Hummel and the Panzerhaubitze as both are artillery while the Elefant is a tank hunter.

But they do kinda look alike, like brothers. We could say they are half-brothers, same mother but different fathers So yes I would accpet it in the campaign.

Please take note that I opened the official thread for this campaign. You can find it HERE - Official Father & Son campaign
