Im in the process of constucting a new Premium Nashorn kit from dragon. So far ive had fun bulding it, no major problems....

I have almost finisted the construction on it... there is just some clean up work and some texturing to be done.

The only real problem that the kit has is the breach was hollow...this had to be filled in with some Tamiya basic type putty..

The kit comes with some brass photoeched pieces that replaces many of the bulcky plastic pieces..
The kit also comes with a turned metal barrel and a "gen-2" muzzle brake

The Jack was cleaned up and handles were add to replace the plastic ones...Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The shell racks were not installed yet for ease of painting.. the kit comes with enough photoetched to show only one rack open..the shells had to be cleaned of the old rack handles that came with the older nashorn kits...The kit also comes with a radio rack but no radio box..I have a few radios in the spare parts bin so the finished product will have one with 2 sets of headphones...Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The kits main gun optics had to be cleaned up alot and also a set of "Bunny ear" range finders..
Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThe running gear and road wheels are same on any Dragon kit but the Return wheels and road wheels have the real look alike factory molding marks as the real one...

I too am building this kit at the moment and what a kit. Big box, big sprues, big leftovers (for the spares box), Big gun etc etc etc.

Nah seriously, I went to my local yesterday with a wallet full of coin and walked out the door with the DML Nashorn. I got it at a good price and started as soon as I got home. The running gear is suppurb, with a bit of clean up on the wheels and the hull needed a few weld beads here and there, as per reference photos. The suspension also had a small make over with some bolt and plate detail on the ends of the springs.

The tracks went together well with small ejector pin marks on each like but are hardly noticeable. They look great and with a coat of paint will look fantastic IMO.

I chose not to add the PE engine grills like you have as I think the kit parts looks fine. I'll soon see under a bita paint.

One question I have though is the radio rack. Which way is up,mmmmm I ca'nt seam to find any reference on this. It can go to ways to me.

This again is a graet kit and once finished here i'm back into it.

The only gripe i have is why can't manufacturers place some sor't of detail cockpit as such, in places like drivers holes etc so us people who are not experts in the scratch field can open up hatch's etc. (my only gripe)

Good job so far look forward to seeing the end results of your work.

Cheers and good luck

Looks great! I think this one will go on my shopping list.

Those gun compartment sides are just shouting out for some nice camo and foliage

Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to see it with some paint on it
