hey guys, this the the alan kit of the zis 5 and let me tell its a doosie the zvesda kits looks much better in the box than this one was to build but in an effort to get my bench cleared so i can get the new year started fresh i hammered and beat on it till it finally gave in and im gonna call this one "the veteren" because it sure looks like its been in a few wars i ended up having fun painting this even if the build was a pain anyway enough rambling and on with the show,
thanks for looking and feel free to shoot me down in flames for the beating i gave this poor truck

I really like the finish on this truck. It has a real worn out rusty oxidized look to it.
The subtle hint of "paint that used to be" is very well done. Just needs a diorama to sit in.
Good job.
Cheers,
Charles

WOW! So real looking! Put it in a diorama and it would be hard to tell from the real thing!

Hmmm, maybe a chance meeting of an old truck and its veteran driver years after the war with a shiny new Zil or Ural truck with its crew of young draftees, or maybe a T-55 on maneuvers.

Nice to see your talents extend into the world of softskins Ron, the "old workhose" idea would be perfect for this build/finish.

Wow! Outstanding.
I did the Italeri Zis-5 and found the build difficult, but fun too. How many washes did you do on the bed? Mine was the first time I used a slurry of powders to make mud and dust, I think it turned out o.k., but its about a million miles from yours and can be seen here: http://photos.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/21088

Great looking truck and an incredible paintjob. I would appreciate if you could give us a lowdown on how you painted it.
Thanks

As per the other forum, an excellent finish. Ditto on the technique writeup request.
