I know that the M16 Quad .50 halftrack was a good weapons system. It put down a heck of a lot of firepower. I have read many times of the Quad .50s being used against ground targets.
I have seen plenty of pictures of the M16 in postion to cover troops from attacking aircraft. They may have even shot at many enemy aircraft. I have yet to read about the M16 actually shooting down aircraft. I know that towards the end of the war there were a limited number of German aircraft.
Anyone know if the M16 was able to shoot down many airplanes?
