How difficult is it to convert the 8 wheeled LAVs to the 6 wheeled versions? Is it as easy as taking out the second axle and covering it with shaped armor plate?
Superficially, they look VERY similar other than the axle count, but nothing is ever that easy... is it?

I'm pretty sure the wheel base is a lot shorter on the AVGP's. You might have to shorten the chassis as well.

Hi Mark,
Was this what you had in mind?
I used a set of drawings from G. Bradford, an Italeri LAV 25 hull, AFV Scorpion turret and alot of help from some great people. It can be done.
I would wait until March and see what Maple Leaf Models has in store, I've been told that there are a number of LAV bits and a major conversion coming out ( I think it was an AVGP Grizzly), I would wait myself...

Peter,
That turned out great! It's exactly what I had in mind. I have a toy Grizzly model, and it's in 1/32nd scale and kind of "chunky" in detail.
I will take your advise and watch Maple Leaf. I just stumbled across their web site the other day, looking for LAV tires. This is a project that is further out, so I am in no hurry.
Thanks also to Rick. I think I will have to "bight the bullet" on those lines drawings from Mr. Bradford for many of my up coming projects.
