The photos of the R39 were of particular interest to me. The right side of the turret is quite different to the way it is depicted in all the kits using that turret. In fact I have been hard pressed finding a picture of any R35/39 or H35/38/39 that has the turret as depicted in all of the 35 scale kits.
I read once that there were two types of the turret used on those tanks. An APX-R and an APX-R1. I haven't been able to find anything on the difference between the two turrets unfortunately. It doesn't seem to be related to the type of gun mounted. Perhaps the turret seen on the R 39 was the APX-R1 and the turrets in the kits are of the APX-R type. At least going by the photos an Chars-Francais it seems that the type shown in Piwi's walkaround were far more common.
