I had an idea (call me stupid), what about a topic in wich everyone building the aim (i guess a lot of people are building this right now) can add what kind of aftermarket stuff they bought for the aim (or maybe the M1A1 in general)
It would look like this;
bought the AM workable tracks from AFVclub at
Mol, plastic modelbouw.nl
and the modern us asseccory set from Tamiya at
also Mol plastic modelbouw
would that be an idea? we maybe need the help of a moderator to get a nice list...
I would like it cause i can't seem to find any decent AM stuff and I would love to get some...
Just a thought...

Well, I havent built my AIM yet (its still in the stash calling me.....pssst.....Gary.......over here......if you build me, they will come! LOL), but from looking at it closely, I dont think there is much if any aftermarket parts needed to build it correctly. Maybe some bags and stowage or such, or if you want to do some specific vehicle, maybe some aftermarket decals, possibly an engine and powertrain? There really isnt too much further to go with it other then how it comes out of the box. So, thats probably why you havent found too much for it in the aftermarket. I know, its weird and hard to get used to the idea of actually building a correct accurate model out of the box without having to by AM stuff LOL Your idea isnt bad though. Just dont let Miloslav participate! Sorry Milo, but youve built so many Abrams, that if you posted the pics plus all the pics and links to the accessories, Armorama would likely crash from using too much bandwith! LOL J/K :-) :-) :-)

I know, but looking at some pics, some of us do have a lot of nice stowage and stuff on there, that made me wonder...

Yeah, I think stowage is all thats realistically needed. I did mention that in my post. FYI, Hobby Fan makes a beautiful stowage and weapons set (#HFN048) if your looking for bags, guns, and helmets. Its a bit pricey at 44 bucks, but the bags look to be some of the best I have seen. Great Models has it. CHeck it out if you havent seen it.

Building an M1A1 AIM right now. I plan on building it OOB, then adding some Tamiya stowage and some extra water boxes.

Am considering doing an Aussie M1 AIM next - but just don't know whether to go for the 'authentic' desert paint and small red kangaroo, and make it look brand new
...or make it 3 tone Aussie camouflage, add AM Leopard AS1 decals (squadron markings, a name for the tank, etc..) and weather the 'you know what' out of it...
Whuat do you guys think - do you prefer 'authentic' or do you use 'artistic licence'

Artistic license for shur!
You have to realize that Armoured vehices are an everchanging thing, and no two are like, except brand new. (even then production line changes happen).

Hi Guys,
Anyone of you tried fitting the CMK engine for the AIM kit? How is it? does it require a lot of work?
Your inputs are greatly appreciated. thanks!
