I'm thinking about investing into the 1/35 Demag from Italeri (probably the PAK 38 version) -they are on sale at squadron.
How good these kits are?
I can't find anything online about them...

Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure any of the Italeri Demag kits are old Esci molds.

As such they are not up to todays standards and probably need a bit of work to assemble. However I have seen some nice results done by others if you put in a bit of effort.

I have been wanting to do the flak version for some time now.

Does it have a flak version, too? God, yet another series of vehicles I need to build...

The Half-track itself is an original Italeri tooled kit, but the 2.0cm Flak 30 is the old Esci kit.

I just typed in Italeri Demag Review in google and came up with several hits from the main model review sites.

I tried +1/35, +Italeri, +Demag... Probably too stringent. Thank you for the links.

As mentioned by others, the Italeri kit is a new mold except the flak 30. The flak 38 version is there own mold, as is the one with the 5cm PAK (that might be the DML mold for the gun).

Here are a couple of pictures of a 10/4 that im almost done with. I added Eduard PE (HIGHLY recomended!!), dragon tracks from thier Sdkfz250 series, and some wheels from taymias flak trailer....if I do it again (such as a 10/5) Ill use the taymia trailer in its entirety.

Let me know if you need any assistance...kit builds great.

They are NOT the same kit. I have both and the ITaleri is light years better than the old ESCI kit. However the esci kit was good til these releases as it was the only plastic kit of this HT.

The Italeri is a good kit for the money. I recommend it.

Andy,
BTW
Italeri's and Dragon's 5cm Pak38 anti-tank gun kits are completely different molds.
The Italeri kit has a less detail than the Dragon kit but it does have the 3rd wheel used for manuevering the gun into position and it comes with a set of the old Esci field gun crew.
The gun crew are a bit more thick eared than most figures nowadays but could be improved with some replacement heads and hands.

I have Italeri kit # 375, the Demag with NB. Wfr.42 and compared it to a very old Esci kit. It is very obvious that the Italeri kit is not a copy of the Esci kit.

I have the Italeri demag/nebelwerfer project "in the planning stages" for several years :-) , just never got around to it yet!
According to most of the tips and threads, over the years, the tracks and drive sprockets appear to be the single weakest part of the set-up, so probably need replacing. The demag used the same tracks as the Sd.Kfz 250, so any Dragon ´250 tracks and drive sprocket would do!

Some walk-around images can be found Here .

Missing-Links track discussion HERE

Hopes that helps some!

Do Dragon provide enough links to do that, since the 250s track run is one axle shorter than the Sd,kfz 10?

Hi Andras,

I built the Italeri Demag with Pak 38 a while back and cant remember any major problems. The tracks are individual links and so build up much nicer than vinyl tracks - a nice touch. You get ammo for the 38 which is nice too. Only things I can think of is that the roof tarpaulin wasn't the most convincing. It certainly has the potential to build up into an excellent model if you put the time and effort in.
(If you wanted to go the whole hog you could get a dragon pak 38 to mount up instaed of the Italeri one and add some photo etch parts where possible.)

Id say go for it.

Enjoy!

The Italeri kits are good kits, just remember that they are not as highly detailed, or wel moulded to todays standard. plenty of BIG knock out marks to remove...
Having said that, fit is generaly good, detail adequate and at a reasonable price. (Apart from their latest kits.. )
The Demag with PaK, builds up without major problems, comes with some gun rounds, and the frot armour plating.

Cheers

i have also built the pak version and agree its not a bad kit oob but with a few improvements as got great potential it goes together well with the usual italeri sink holes and knockout marks but thats part of any italeri built just about, the worst thing i found about it was the tarp (alraedy been mentioned) so i tried covering mine with a camo net, i'de say the kits worth the effort to build.
