Hello all,
I'm doing up a U.S.M.C. Sherman circa. 1943, and have come across a bit of a Kunundrum. I have read in one source that the Shermans delivered to the Marines were painted in normal OD, but in another publication it states that the Marines had a diffrent color of green called Marine Green. Can anyone shead som e lite on this and let me know what the correct color is?

Hey David,
I've checked my references and according to most of them, ie: Steve Zaloga, they say while that dark Forest Green was the standard Marine Corps colour, most Marine armour was painted Olive Drab with additional camouflage colours of Sand and Red Brown.
With the amount of weathering from dust, sand and salt spray that these tanks endured, it's hard to say what is the "proper colour" for them.
Unless your going to build a specific, documented AFV, I'd say go ahead and paint it whatever green shade you want.
Have fun!!
