When was the M18 first used in WW2 by the US Airborne?
Was it present during Op. Market Garden, or was it introduced later still?
(I looked on the internet but it comes up with different times.)
Cheers,
H

AFAIK it was used by 17th Airborne in Operation Varsity, I'm trusting my memory on this so hopefully some one else can quote a reference. I didn't think it was used as early as D Day. Can you say where you saw the pic?

Yes, it was in my imagination, apparently. I went back and the pic was of the M9A1, not the M18. Fortunately, the Tamiya 1/48 infantry set contains the correct one for my "Night of Nights" dio with the old Mongram C-47. Otherwise I'd be a little annoyed right now.

Definitely NOT Market Garden. It was jumped with the 17th AB during Operation Varsity, as mentioned above.
