Hi Sebastien
I hope you'll be listened to...In fact 4 rachets are included in Eduard's PE set for Trumpeter's Challenger II kit (#35565), but the price would may be a bit high for only 4 parts in case you don't have any Chally kit laying around

Sebastien,
Whilst somebody from Eduard might pay Armorama a visit and have the inclination to search through all of the posts, one of the ways is for you to make a suggestion to them. You could email them if there is a link on their website or write them a letter. Then you can try and make the case that you feel with the great many modern vehicles that are on the market and in particular with those of OIF being festooned with external stowage, that this is something that they may care to look at as it may sell well.

Wow...that Chally 2 set looks really really good. I just built one and now I wish I had that set. I'm sure I can put one on my Chally 1 by Tamiya or a similar set for the kit.

Thanks for the tip Seb ! I've just checked the instruction sheet and the set includes 13 ratchets (9 small and 4 large )...Now that gives me some food for thought

Dear All
If you are like me interested for a ratchet tie down set from Eduard, help me by sending a mail to Eduard and ask them to release one.
The mask exist see ref #35844 so no need to do exstensive R&D process.
If they receive more than one email, maybe they will considere to produce one.
Eduard's email: Libor Havranek at e-mail: [email protected]
Thanks for helping the community

Dear guys,
I know it's quite late to reply, since I promised I'll ask ASAP. I've asked before, but with answer I got, I was frightened to come here.
You see it is really hard, for us producers to satisfy everyone's needs. Situation goes like this. Strong competion, limited finances, need to advance. With these factors, we cannot produce just something, and hope, someone will buy it and use it for specific model.
We would need to study models, on which you'd like to use those ratchets and then produce them. But for specific model, from specific company and in specific scale.
Since there are many objects of interest in this hobby, it is impossible to cover needs of all customers.
Maybe in the future the market will change and AFV modellers will get a better chance, but for now..
That's what I was told..
I would really like to help you with this issue, but since the ratchet tie downs on our sets are really included on quite big photo-etch, in number of just four, I think this won't be the right solution for you..

Dear Libor
Well I am aware of all the parameters when you are running a company.
If I started this message to you, it was for obvious reasons :
1- You are one of the big player for PE business.
2- You are already producing ratchet tie downs in your modern sets meaning the mask
already exist so the R&D step doesn't need to be done (Money can be easily saved).
They can be found in kit #35565, and kit #35844
3- You are already producing such type of tie down set.
So i think you didn't addressed these points. If you don't want to produce them, at least to put the 14 different ratchets from kit 35844, in a separate kit, it is your call. We don't need the complete tie down this can be done by the modelers with lead foil, we need only the handle, it is not to hard ???
For Modern modelers, it is a sad news maybe other PE manufacturers will read this message and produce them. Well Dreaming is not prohibited :-) :-) :-)
Thanks anyway for your answer.

Libor,
I understand the reasoning behind your company's decision, even if I am a bit sad about it.
If it helps keep the idea alive however, here is how I would pitch it to any company that makes photoetch parts:
Idea: Universal modern armor accessory set
Scale: 1/35--the broadest segment of the armor market
Specific model targeted: None! This new set would be a universal accessory set--similar to Tamiya's (or Hobby Fan's) modern accessory sets. This ensures much broader market appeal for the product, since it is not tied to the popularity of a specific model.
What to include: Use existing designs to minimize R&D costs. For Eduard, that would mean using portions of sets 35565 and 35844 for the ratchets. The set could also include the ratchet straps, CIP panels, and other generic modern armor accessories (padlocks, ammo belts, shell casings, weapon slings). All of these items have already been developed and can be re-purposed for use in this set.
Hope this helps!
