Hi there
This is my first tank build! I have been on a steady diet of 1/72 aircraft up until now. Really enjoying it. See what you think.
I would really like some pointers, particularly on tracks and decals. there are a few bits left to do but I have loved every minute and can't wait to do another.

Hi Stuart,
That looks pretty good to me. I don't know much about the M36 but from what I can see you have done a good job on the kit.
I don't know what sort of tracks trhe kit has, but they look like they may be pads in which case I'd add a coat of grey to the stowed ones on the front and some gun metal./metalic to the connectors.
The overall effect looks good, well used but not overdone. Depending upon the final setting for the vehicle you could add some light/brick dust and if it's in a field some mud to the tracks and under hull.
That's an excellent first build IMHO.
Cheers and thanks for sharing.

Light years ahead of my first tank, that's for sure. I particularly like the barrel being locked down in "travel mode" which is not all that commonly seen in models.

I really like the look of this tank, especially the barrel in travel mode. Do the tracks on the front have the "Three Bar" cleat pattern on them? If not, the pads in the middle need to be painted black or a dark grey because they are rubber. Also, the wheel marks on the stowed tracks, though cool looking, would not be there. If these tracks were stowed away, they would not have been driven on yet, and thus not be weathered as such.
Overall a very nicely done piece of work.

The build and paint job look very well done. Be aware, the kit actually builds into a variant not used in combat by US forces (which caused much grumbling when it was released by AFV Club). It may have been used for training, though. It is the M36B2, with the diesel engine, though it was usually seen with the armored turret roof installed, and often had a single or double baffle muzzle brake on the barrel. They were widely supplied as military assistance to our Allies after the war.

Looks all good to me! Excellent work for your first tank - you must be pretty good on those 1/72 aircraft! I imagine you'll catch the bug of modelling 1/35 AFV's now and never look back! It happened to all/most of us!
Have fun,
James

Hi there
I know what you mean. What is it about them that's so addictive. I started a Humvee last night. In 1/72 scale though, but it'll only take me a few days. Cannot wait to start another AFV project..............HOOKED.
Thanks for all your comments. Just what I needed to hear.
Kind regards to all

Almost finished!
Have made a base tonight. Took me 3 hours! I like the grass I bought today. Very easy to work with as long as you use your imagination.

i really like what youve done there that path is truly good for the impression it gives of being run over by a tank (if that was what you were going for)

Nicely done. The base sets the kit off nicely. Good looking build.
