hi there folks. a quick question: I used super glue to attach a head to a body. I woulld like to remove it and re-position it. Are there any glue removers out there that would unloosen the part? I dont want to use nail polish remover as this will damage the plastic. I've heard ammonia will work. Also, the parts are painted. So Im not sure if these glue remover products will attack the paint. Please advise me as to what I should do next. Thanks alot for any help.

Hrmm, maybe something I used when building a 1/20 scale F1. I chipped away at the glue with a scalpal (or craft knife) and then hand sanded the area... Probably fiddly with a 1/35. Something to do if all else fails.

The zap a gap super glue my hobby shop carries ( I use the medium purple label type) has a CA remover in same style body but with a green label.

And yes it will soften the paint so if you use the needle applicator tip carefully you'll have only a minimal touchup, but be careful the CA remover is very thin and will pour like water.

Sean, the product you are looking for is called a Debonder. There are numerous types out there, even Zap has their own version, namely the Z-7 Debonder. Your local hardware should stock a few CA debonders.

You can find superglue debonders quite easily. Mind that if the figure is injection plastic quite likely the debonder (and sometimes the acetone) can attack it...

Thanks guys. I did get it off by applying some pressure. Did not take much for it to come off. Thank goodness... Will THINK, before I GLUE!!!
