Hi There,
Does anyone know if the M-1 Abrams was ever fitted with the same dozer blade like on the M-60 serie ?
And if so, are there any photo's of it ?
Thanks,
Gé Hovens

There are very few pics of a Abrams fitted with a dozer. the pics show some other blade. it's clearly not the M9 blade for the M60 series.

The only Abrams pic I've seen with a dozer blade had a British kit fitted to it. It was here at Armorama but some time ago.
It's the same blade supplied with Trumpeter kit #00345 Challenger II in action at Kosovo.

The US Army DID do experiments on placing the M9 dozer blade on the M1IP and M1A1 series in the 1980's, but they did not advance beyond two or three MATES test mountings. I have seen pictures of one done. I do not remember why, but there were issues that need to be addressed and all involved said it would be better to get a purpose built blade instead. Then the whole issue was dropped...until we aquired the British blade. oh well.
