Greetings all,
I want to put a Model Railroad smoke generator in a dio for that "still smoldering" effect. Any one have any experience with these things? I know they use an element to heat the smoke fluid or oil, but is there enough heat to melt the surrounding plastic?
Thanks in advance,

No. The tube on the one I have is about 1 1/4 inches long, with the element at the bottom. They don't produce a whole lot of smoke, but for smoldering it's just right. Use peanut oil instead of the fluid-it works just as well. One small problem is that they sometimes sputter a little and can spit oil. You can find them on the Walther's website.

Hi,

There are some topics here at KitMaker.Net about this subject, like this one - Smoke in a Dio?.

Use the search with 'smoke' or 'smoke generators' and you will find some more.

Hi,

Not trying to ram this down anyone's throat but since you asked specifically about this kind of setup, here's my attempt:

I can't figure out how to make the direct link but you can copy and paste and hopefully, it will work.

Good luck with the project!
Mike

Mike, the link worked just fine and I think your dio is fantastic!
Gunfighter, this is probably the way to go if you want 3D smoke. If I HAD to criticize anything,it would be the smoke was not the oily black it should be for a burning armored vehicle.
Good luck and please post some cool pics when you are done!
Cheers!

Mike,
Thats what I was looking for, same concept only with a T - 34 smoking away somewhere on the russian frontier. I'll have to put in baffles to get the smoke to flow where I want it but wasn't sure where to mount the generator so it could be serviced.
Beautiful piece of work,
Thanks again
