Hey people,
I'm in the midst of building a 1:35 OIF diorama. Now I discovered a major problem: How do I get the sand on the dio ? The ground consists of plaster. I covered it with a mixture of glue and water (using a brush). But now it comes in patchy, which means some of the glue is visible through the sand.
Any ideas ?
thanks in advance,

Dear Philipp
I suppose that the plaster base is allready dry ??
Ok 2 options:
1- remove the plaster and do it again but when you are preparing the water solution dissolve some PVA glue and yellow sand pigment into the water, add your Paris plaster until you have a viscous liquid like a tooth paste. Aply it on your wooden base or other substrate and applying your sand on this wet base using a metallic strainer from the kitchen.
2- Dilute PVA glue in water, use a plastic sprayer (the one for the plant) spray the liquid and deposit the sand with the same metallic strainer.
You need to use small grain sand nearly close to dust, because you need to respect the 1/35 scale. For example beach sand will present grain of 0.5 mm in diameter (about) => 17.5 mm in real life
Is this clear ???

Hi Phillip,
I did my desert dio with bird sand .
I would suggest going out gettting some Bird sand from the shops
Be it Pet store or supermarket.
Bird sand is fine granulated material and is ideal for diorama bases.
I think this is what Sebastien was referring to.i.E: Fine granuls
Get your hands on a spray atomiser.fill with water and white glue .
like 80-85% water 10-15 % of white glue .
Spray the water and white glue on with a fine spray onto the base and then pore the bird sand over the patches.
Let dry and then spray some flat clear on at low air pressure if you can
I would not remove any of the plaster.
Cheers
Michael
