Hi fellow modellers, finally finished the beast.

For my 1st truly multimedia kit (also 1st using a double action airbrush), I think Iīve done a fairly decent job. Next one will be better, though. Also practiced how to decypher the difficult the Dragonīs instruction sheet.

Weathering was made using artist oils, MIG pigments, chalk pastels and TAmiya weathering stick.

Pics:

Hope you like it and constructive comments most welcome as usual.

Cheers

Thanks Rick, one thing for sure: for the next one, Iīll buy both Tamiya M1A2 and the Dragon M1A1 AIM, just to get the tracks...oh well, not really, jsut going to buy both of them for my amusement, the tracks are just a side effect :-) :-) :-)

Looks pretty good. The weathering and painting look good. The only issue I see is that you seem to have put the roadwheel arms too low. The wheels are too low with too much space between the ground and the skirts. The skirts should just come over the top of the roadwheels, to about the inside edge of the metal wheel. This is how they should look.

Great job otherwise. Looks good.

Good build! I like the weathering. Gino could verify this, but I believe M1 roadwheels should be either green or sand, not brown, Also, I believe the marking on the ammo cans attached to the bustle should be horizontal.

Thanks for the comments and correction Gino, for the next one the issue you mention will be treated properly. Was a tough build, but cannot wait to get a new one

Thanks Thomas, I placed the markings of the ammo cans as per instructions, donīt know if itīs right or not. About the wheels, Rick itīs right, those are dirty ones! Just in different shades to give them more "variety" in colours.

Thanks for loooking and your feedback people, really appreciate the good ones and the citique will help me to improve my future builds.

Regards to all

Cheers

Great work on the weathering Klaus! Definitely looked like its gone to hell and back. I think the use of the airbrush certainly brought your kits to another level in terms of the finish.

Hey dont forget to submit your work for On Display.

Great job!

Great weathering job on the side skirts, the only wear they see is on the number 1 and 7 were the crew mounts and dismounts the vehicle and wipes off the dust!. The only thing i can see on the kit is the cargo on the blow out panels behind the T.C. and loaders hatches. There would be hell to pay for having ANYTHING on the panels when I was serving on the M1A1 HA froim 1985-1998. Great job!

Klaus--- the two outlines on the front of the turret are to secure the MILES sensors. I cannot tell from the photo, but it appears that you have the Velcro boxing a piece of cardboard on either side of the main gun. You should have the Velcro outline and the overall paint scheme of the tank in the spot. Am I looking at the photos correctly?
Nice overall job...gear/weathering superb.

Klaus-- picture 1 and 2. Show up as a white blank spot next to the main gun. What are you trying to display?

Oh, I know what you mean now, sorry.. Actually, until you pointed it out I havenīt seen it. Just checking it, guess itīs a residue of the oil wash I gave to the tank before the pigments. Iīll check it out to correct it. Thanks for the pointer, sir.

Thanks for your comments Gijs, and yes, in the near future Iīm gonna build one (actually just started the soldiers)

Cheers

DJ,
I think you are refering to the two sand colored squares on the front slopes of the turret. If so, they are part of the CIPs for friendly ID. The ones on the turret front are flat since the turret is already sloped. They work in conjunction with the louvered squres on teh turret sides and rear. The velcro "L"s on the corners are used to attach them to the turret when turned around, or in the "Off" position.
