Ok, I finsihed it. I used a lot of new (to me) techniques. Nothing exciting to discuss, but let's just say, don't mix Testors Flat from a can with pigments in rubbing alchohol.
Recap:
This is the DML BTR-70 Afghnistan kit (it really did not matter whether I used either DML BTR-70 kit) with the SP Designs 2S14 conversion. The conversion is the light tan resin, except I primed the turret to see if I did some earlier work correctly.
I also added some brass grab handles and foot rungs.
The final detailing comes from a Eduard PE set for the BTR-70. I added as much of the PE set as I could except for the rear engine louvers and any pieces that were not necessary to replace (like the perscope guards).
Painted in a base of Polly Scale Blck Green with Testors Dark Green as the main color and a little tan mixed into the Testors Dark green (20/80) to make a highlight. Drybrushed and washed lightly. Added pigments instead of pastels.
I added numbers to the turret even though all photos I have do not show the vehicle having any as it looked TOO plain without them.
(Larger photos in my gallery, click on the pick to get the larger image).
That's it. I have submitted more pictures for a On Display feature and will also enter this into the Feb. build contest.

Hi Jacques nice build you got there. I second you the Russian plain green is quite boring on the long turn. I like very much the way you give some life to this model with the highlighting.
