Dan Fong over at Missing Links, has posted a link to a rather curious collection of pictures - a series of M4s modified for some of the early nuclear tests. Some REAL potential for conversions there.

Yeah. Now if you'd change the 'R' to a 'T' it'd be even less fragrant..

Is this, that they were modified for nuclear power or for blowing up during tests?

Apparently they were modified to carry personnel into the contaminated area following a blast.
One of the captions stated that Enrico Fermi rode in one that was lead lined to collect soil samples in the blast zone.

Some very interesting shots there Jim, but my favourite is the M3 Lee in Tunisia that has had a bit of a steering malfunction... :-)
