Hello chaps ... a simple little kit, that I had started last year, but it then fell back a bit in the queue. . Built mostly OOB, except for the hose which I replaced with some covered wire. The decals are from the spare box.
Sprayed with Tamiya acrylics and details and weathering made with Humbrols and pastels. This will eventually end up in the diorama with my DUKW.
Comments an critic are welcome.

Hi Frank,
what a nice little gem, the painting and weathering looks very convincing.
Very well done!

Nice work Frank, its hard to believe how old the moulds are for these kits when they look this good with almost no detailing.

Frank,

That's exquisite. Have you been studying Mig Jimenez's FAQ? I only ask because of the way you've done the paint chips / rust blisters with the border of paler paint and how you've streaked the weathering.

Constructive criticism? Well, let me start by saying this is better than my best work. The only suggestion I can make is the rear light cluster. Maybe too red and too matt? Also would all the lights be red? I bet there are no colour reference pics, so we'll never know. I bet "red" lights might have a more crimson or purple colour and also more glossy. If you agree, could you achieve this with a drop of Kleer or glossvarnish?

A super model though. I always keep an eye out for your stuff

The upper left oval should be red. The rest are blackout marker/stop lights and are actually clear. The marker/stop lights do look black though and are best represented with gloss black. Other than that, it looks like a great little model. Good job.

Great little build! Aside from the aforementioned comments about the tail lights, this looks great! Well done.

I like it also. Tim Streeter has on USARMYMODELS this kit where he rebuilt the frame. I just got this kit last month and I'm glad to see you can make a very nice unit out of it without going to that trouble. I am planning on doing the same as you, just replace the hose and decals.

Now I just wish I could some how convince myself that the cargo trailer from the same kit could some how be used in WWII, and wasn't a post war vehicle.

BTW, nice info on the tail lights. The next U.S. vehicle I make will have them done right.

Great replies Guys. Thanks very much for your very kind comments and tips on the tail lights. Much appreciated. Thanks for the images Grumpy ... those will be saved to be consulted on every US vehicle in the future.

Look at the wheel detail .. excellent. Apart from the hose and decals theres not much that can be improved upon ... maybe the pump handle could be thinned a bit!

Have you been studying Mig Jimenez's FAQ?

DonŽt have the FAQ book ..... yet .... but Ive read loads of stuff that Mig (and Adam Wilder) have written. See the articles on ML rarities, and also I have few articles by Mig in magazines. I love the work of both above mentioned, and yes it has rubbed off, although not to the same standard maybe.

IŽll be painting those tail lights again ... thanks to everybody for the feedback ... exactly why I post .... IŽll add to this thread, when the lights are finished! Cheers
