Well, this is basically the same question I asked about the Tamiya's Pzkfw IV - D, but the results where very bad, it seems to be a terrible kit and you need to pay a fortune in AM to make something of it.

That is why I decided that this one will be saved for my boy, when he wants to do his first armor, then I have one ready for him :-)

But, I have another one on my shelf: Dragon PzKpfw III-G "Africa Korps" (number 9024) .

How is this one, I just unwrapped it from its plastic and I must say that I loved the detail on it, like the rivets on the roof :-) , but I hate the individual tracks , ok first time for everything.

Opinions please, I don't want to spend money on AM (at this moment) so is this a good OOTB build (my first glance says yes, but hey, there are better German armor experts here then me!), but I don't intend to do the Africa version of it but the Russian front version.

I've got two PzKpfw III kits: the old Tamiya Ausf. M/N and the new Tamiya Ausf. L. I don't know much differences between Ausf.s other than some have different guns, but I would recommend the new Tamiya kit any day. Very nicely done and a totally new kit from the ground up (no relation to the old kit). It is most likely an easier build than the DML one.

Road,

Great great kit!!! I have one myself, without AM, this can be made into great kit, and very accurate.

Don't be scared about the indi link, they are easy to do.

Hi Ronny, I have not done this awesome hulk ( regards to the real one ) of armor yet, but I look at it like this. " No matter what armor kit we may buy on the market today, it will need
some kind of updating one way or the other, no matter how much or how little. We have the AM accessories & are own individual scratch buliding talent's to make any tank as accurate as it was in real life. Thus, "a half bad scale model armor kit " can be improved/updated .................. and as I have also seen, a good kit can be ruined beyond belief. I'm into acquiring the AM accessories that are neccessary to build a model to accurate and official standards, and that's one reason why I don't build so many models in a given time period. And even though ( but not often at all ) I will ask about a kit, regardless of the answers my feeling is "if you like it - buy it - and if you buy it - build it. "
JUST HOW I LOOK AT IT.

I have the kit too,and built it.It goes together as easy as any other DML Pz III ausf xxx.
I had no problems with the build.I know in true DML fashion, you will want to add a Hudson and Allen tow cable,or of course, make your own.I wish DML would include them 100% in all of their kits.
Dont be afraid of L to L track, once you get the hang of it,it does become second nature

Ronny,
I have built several of the DML/Dragon PanzerIII/StugIII kits, and I like them. The good thing about DML/Dragon is you get lots of parts for your spares box. They all build up very nicely and into a good representation of the real thing. As for the link to link track, just take your time and do all the work, including painting on the hull and assembling the track, before you glue the superstructure on. This makes it easy to get the tracks on correctly.
Happy modeling.

hey roadkill DO NOT put yourself down I have learned over the past week that if you are happy with your work then you are the best modeller in the world and do not worry about other people looking down on you or your work. have a look at "farewell to modelling" to see what I am talking about for the first time in over 6 months I am building again and it is all because of this world wide club

Most of the Dragon kits that I have built are very good and the link to link tracks although intimidating at first are very simlple to do once you get the hang of assembly. Here is a link to the features section that is good article on assembling Dragon link to link tracks.
https://armorama.kitmaker.net//features/84

I used this method on the Dragon Panther A early and had very good results.
