I'm going to build my first Abrams (Dragon's AIM) and don't recall ever seeing an explaination of those two rectangular panels on the turret, on each side of the main gun. What are they for? Please educate me...
Thanks

Combat Identification Panels or CIPs. Used to create a cold spot in another tank's thermal sight and identify the vehicle as a friendly tank. They serve the same purpose as the louvered panels on the sides and back of the turret.
