I want to build the old Tamiya SU-85 kit but I have to replace those vinyl tracks. Which pattern of T-34 tracks would be appropriate for an SU-85?

Thanks.

With the light research I did for mine, I decided to pick up the Maquette T-34 Separate Track Links Late Version #MQ-35021. They ran me $6 and change and include 5 identical sprue, each with 40 links on them. Being a T-34 rookie, I noticed that 20 tracks have a center guide and 20 tracks do not (per sprue) and they assemble in alternating order (one flat, one with guide...). Looks like it will add the sag T-34 are known for without having to deal with the vinyl tracks. One vinyl track had a twist in it, so I did not want to use it.

Dave,

If you want to spend a few more bucks than the Marquette kit, get eh Modelkasten set (SK-34). These were fitted for most T-34's as the came out late 1942. I ahve some pictures of the first serries of SU-85's with the earlier tracks (i.e., Modelkasten set SK-35), but that would be rare (in my opinion).

Note that Modelkasten set SK-37 is for early T-34/76's only.

HTH,
Dave
