A great build and I think the current result is very good. The only thing I would correct is the Finnish marking as it distracts from a really good result.

It has been good to follow your process with this beast of a kit.

Good result and thanks for sharing

Thanks for the build notes. I think your finished tank looks great. I will definitely use this thread as a reference when I build my T-28.

Kiimo, Jesper,

Thanks for the info on the markings...I think in the end I made 1 of 2 mistakes with them...either the vertical one is on upside down or I should have switched the overlay between the vertical and horizontal bars. The instructions didn't provide any guidance at all and the 4 bars provided, on the sheet at least, look identical, making it very difficult to figure out the proper arrangement...add to that the fact that I was rushed due to that portion of the sheet being wet by accident and the perfect storm of incorrect markings resulted. While I would be tempted to remove the markings and carry on...I think at this point it's just better to walk away from it and leave it alone. I chalk it up to a learning experience in the end.

Thomas,

I had fun building it and am glad to hear the notes might be of benefit for others in the future attempting the same kit. I just had some bad luck with the decals and would strongly recommend using alternate means of markings (either stencils or replacement decals if available) vs. the kit supplied items.

Another good one Bill

Just a shame that you had some problems with the decals. Anyway it does look really good to me. Will come handy when I start to work on my T-35

Thanks Richard, it's not an impossible kit to build, has its quirks for sure, and I enjoyed it despite the ultimate outcome.

A little creative weathering just may hide the silvering Bill.

How's this for a future monster:

I think that's the KV-100 or similar prototype? Definitely falls into the "more is more" category I think. At this point the amount of weathering required to fix this one would be along the lines of "upside down in a bog" I think...given the problem with the wonky crosses at least.

Why were the Russians so keen on 'Land Battleships'?.. Hmm, perhaps a lack of year round harbour..

Hey guys!!
I think it's actually a SMK Model 1939 heavy tank.
According to a profile drawing in Steven Zaloga's Osprey book KV-1 & 2 Heavy Tanks, the T-100 is similar to the SMK but has a taller engine deck and had the shorter L-11 76.2mm gun in the main turret.
Whichever one it is, it certainly was an enormous beast !!!
Cheers

update: Here's a picture and some text on Wikipedia regarding the T-100, it's quite different looking from the SMK.
