i have only been building models for about a year. i have finally completed my first diorama. its a not the greatest. but oh well. it was very simple and fun to make. i tryed to make water from a hot glue gun.... that was a huge mistake. oh well, live and learn. The dio is a stuart hull down and conected to some dug in american defences. it could be traing or in theater... who knows. the idea for this dio came from a picture i saw, and i have included the original photo in the photo album.

Doesn't look too bad to me Paul.......interested in the hot glue gun/water trick......from the pics it doesn't look too bad for a stream such as the one you have......for a larger body of water it could be a pain.....

honestly scott, the hot glue idea sucks....i dont recommend using it.. it kind of bulges in the center, and it drys milky. it was a good idea my girlfried came up with, but it just didnt work..

Paul

Looks great. I have tried the hot glue for water technique myself. It doesn't work well It actually didn't look half bad for ice though. It forced me to do a dio in winter scheme. I've been thinking of using water pellets, but haven't found a great need for them yet.

Hi Paul
I have attempted water once using lots of coats of clear varnish tinted with some grey, brown or green depending on what you are looking for. I painted about six layers in total. The small waves were made with some clear gel-type glue and apinted on with a brush and licked up like a curl. A few layers of varnish untinted on top to finish. A bit of white drybrushing on the tips of the waves before the last varnish coat helps. See below for results! This works well when there is samll area of water.
Your dio is excellent and a good idea to try out out something differnt from a tank and broken wall. Maybe some of your figues could do with a bit weathering/ drybrushing to bring out detail. But all the ground work looks excellent.

Hello Paul160, I must say that the dio you made looked quite impressive!
Keep up the good work! John.

Not bad at all being your first attempt. What I can add on top of the other comments is that in real life the way you positioned your thank is very dangerous. In case of retreat, your Stuart should follow a very narrow and obliged path, this means that either the tank has to leave the position when the enemy is really far and so it cannot give effective protection to the guys in the trench, or it has to reposition itself to the back of the infantrymen... Of course it can also be the case of a tank that due to some problem cannot move so the position is somehow correct...
Ciao

I think you did a good job for a first dio!! A bit of touching up here and there, like weathering and 'seam removal' and you get an A+ in my book!
Thanks for sharing
