This is a project I've been working for a long time now. The project began in my mind when I was deployed to Afghanistan 2005-2006.
I wanted to build a diorama, showing a scene from Kabul, where locals have uncovered some UXO's - Some of you may have seen my Landcruiser BJ44 from MIG, painted as an OMAR mine clearing vehicle.
And now I'm about 90% done with my scratchbuilt Kabul street shop... It's made from cardboard, matchsticks, plastic, plaster and loads of MIG pigments.
The bottles in the shop window are from Accurate Armour...
This is the vehicle that eventually will be a part of the diorama:
Any advice or comments will be highly appreciated!
Best regards,
Bjoern Clausen

Outstanding work there Bjoern! I think you captured the atmosphere of the shop very well! Do you have a sketch on how the final dio would look like?

This is going to be a good diorama. My one question is about the second story door to nowhere, have you seen these? Just seems a bit odd. Or will there be an outside stairway to it?

Yes, eventually there will be an outside "stairway" - But I haven't figured out how I'll put it together yet... I'll keep you posted!

Good deal - that'll be cool. Personally I see a lashed wooden structure for stairs.
Looking forward to more.

Beautiful. No need for suggestions from us. You should be telling us how to make these things in more detail.
Bjoern, I was recently at the National Training Center here in the US following up on something and I was with a Danish TV crew. They said their piece was to appear on the web live and then would be archived on the website. I went to the site and it is all in Danish. I could not find anything. I checked Channel 1 and Channel 2. Do you have any suggestions? This was a couple of weeks ago.

Excellent Bjoern. The building detail and weathering really give it a lot of creditability. Love the shop front window.
Between the technical and building, this is amounting to one top diorama. Nice!!

Bob,
I tried to do a search on the two major tv-channels here in Denmark... (www.tv2.dk and www.dr.dk) - But I could not find anything! - Do you know what their piece was about in details?
Regards,
Bjoern

They were based out of Washington DC (bureau editor I believe) and were doing a report on how the Army trains for the current environment. We were there the week of Jan 31. It was supposed to air a week later. They interviewed soldiers and recorded some action.
I would have thought it would have had NTC or something like that in the title.

There is a show on TV2 here in Denmark about training and stuff of special forces of the military around the world. The show is called "the red zone" - it might be for that.
