Here is a link to view Tamiya's update on their website. This looks like a really nice release.

ACTUALLY, this is a very disappointing "New" release. The kit and gun are very old indeed and the only new part of the release is the figures which will probably raise the price of the old kit...

The whole back end of the Protze is new. The old kit was a bed type truck. The new kit is a munitions carrier for the pak gun. It really looks as if they did a nice job with the re-tooling.
I'm sure that the gun is the old kit but it wasn't a bad kit anyway...

Finally something in grey with no zimmerit.

It's true that the base of the kit (undercarriage, cab, front end) was originally released in 1978 in a cargo truck configuration, but it's still an excellent kit for it's age and the only 1/35th scale representation of this important German WWII vehicle. The new parts are more than just figures, though. Everything from the driver's compartment back is all new to make this kit the more interesting, prime mover vehicle. The little 37mm gun kit is even older but still an acceptable rendering. Still, it would have been nice to see a new 37mm gun. I'll be happy to get this one.

These are just the teasers from Tamiya. Their pattern has been to announce their new releases gradually throughout the year. I'm sure they have some newer, more exciting releases on the near horizon for 2003.

Hey Tiger,

These do look great (in my humbe and opinionated opinion) and is a nice addition to the Tamiya line. Besides, this was a conversion that I was planning to do (one of these days). Now, I just can buy one!
