Hi all.

Just wondering, how easy would it be to convert an American G.I. wearing the common M1941 jacket (say, around Normandy, if we ignore the legs) to one wearing the M1943, for spring of -45 (say)?

Yes, I know that the M-41 was still in use by some, but in this case, it would be kind of a sore point, with one jacket yellow-ish and the rest green/brown/OD/call-it-what-you-want.

Andy,

I guess it all depends on your skills. The two jackets have different cuffs and collars. The 1943 has four big pockets on the front, as opposed to the little "slash" pockets of the 1941. The 1943 coat is also longer. I'd say get photos of both and then start sculpting away and see how you do.

Is the fugure you are making wearing leggings or double buckle service shoes? If he is wearing leggings I would suggest leaving the M1941 jacket as is, because if he was issued the M1943 jacket he would probably have been issued the double buckles.

I'll see what I'm able to do. Anyone know any good palces for pictures? I got a few sources msyelf (doesn't everyone), but as of yet, I haven't found anything which makes this all that easier for me...

The figure in question is Tamya's truck driver, so the legs won't be all that visible anyway (at least not after adding "doors" to the truck, heh)
