I just uploaded some pics sent by Andrew (drewgimpy). He "claims" this is his first armor model but I don't know. Seems too good to me.
Really Andrew great job! What was your source material for this tank? It looks like you took great pains to reproduce some of the weathering and detail. Give us some details on how you put it together. Or better yet is this one what you are writing an article on?? hmmm??
gallery here
Cheers,
Jim

Thanks guys
Its a real honor to have you guys approve. You will never believe what happened today though. I took the model to a the local Hobbytown today where they had a contest and got a second place plaque for it. I know you guys are going to think I am full of it but its the truth. I couldn't believe it. I just wanted to go and have fun and meet some of the local modelers. A few of them wouldn't believe it was my first armor model either. I am starting a Hummer tonight by Italeri that I am going to finish as a Marine hummer in Desert Storm.
Like I said in another post, all the new things I tried I got off the message boards right here. I used a lot of the painting methods found in missing link article (I found it with a link that was posted under an oil paint thread on this message board under the painting section), you can find it right here
http://www.missing-lynx.com/articles/other/awpaint/awpaint.htm
I didn't follow it exactly and will write down exactly what I did another time when I have time to do so. I can say this I LOVE OIL PAINTS! It wouldn't have turned out well without them.
The method for tracks, lights, and a lot of other little things all came from questions that I or someone else asked on the message boards right here, so there are no secrets.
I have all you guys to thank for getting me off on the right foot. I know for sure that if I wasn't able to put things down when I was affraid to screw something up and come here and get help the model would look much different than it does. Thanks for the help and patients with all my questions, I truly mean that. Have a great Easter all.
