Does anyone know if there is a 1/35 kit available of this vehicle?

I know about SP Designs BTR-T conversion.

Nope. And none announced yet either.

It is something I would like to see myself, and I have put in a good word with Sergej of SP Designs, but I do not expect anything.

Since it is based on the T-90 chassis and not the T-72 chassis, it may also need to be a full resin kit. Maybe 5 Star or Panzershop can tackle this one, for $400 each or so? (yea, I'm grouchin')

I would love to see this one too. As states Jacques, there are very few chances someone releases it soon. Panzershop is quite expensive (uh, the least I can say, their 2S7 is killing). 5Stars are much more affordable but it looks like their production line has been sleeping for a while now.

Well, here is hoping. The BMP-T is being put into production as the T-72 Ramka. Since this will be a real vehicle, and not just a product demonstrator, maybe, just maybe, someone will kit one up.

Of course we have not seen a proper run of the BMP-1/2 series yet, so...

The RM offer is quite good but you may notice that the weld seams are a bit overdone and the gun is not very accurate. You'd better get one from Modelpoint.

The SP designs kit is no more a full kit but a conversion for the Tamiya T-55. I can't comment on the new kit but the older I built was not that bad. Of course, there were some troubles but nothing you can't fix with a little patience.

I'm pretty sure Jacques will show up again to comment a bit more

I gues I have to keep my fingers crossed - it is one awesome looking vehicle.

Is it BMPT or BMP-T? I have seen it spelled both ways.

The BTR-T is tempting, but not what I had in mind. Is it a production vehicle? OK , it wouldn't be a production vehicle, it is a way to use up obsolete T55 hulls, but is the vehicle being produced/used anywhere?

The older SP Designs fullo resin BTR-T was a very ok kit (I built one) but I think the conversion on the Tamiya T-55 is MUCH better. I have not done the conversion, but just using the Tamiya parts instead of resin ones makes it better, especially for some of the details such as the headlight guards, etc. The older SP designs full resin kit was designed around the Lindberg T-55 kit, so...

I have not seen the RM kit first-hand, but looking over the manufacturer's info I am not tempted either. And they produced the mock-up turret...the "gun" is, in reality, just a metal pipe. It would be a good conversion for a "mock-up", but not the demonstrator.

The BTR-T has only had one or maybe two demonstrators made. They were a program to take old T-55 chassis, and rebuild them to zero hours, then build them up into BTR-T's. But, considering the state of affairs in Russia, it is "cheaper" to just build brand new vehicles than to recycle. Also, the T-55 business is waning compared to T-72/90 and T-80.

That said, the russians decided on the T-72 Ramka. I think it was called the BMP-T initially to compare it to the BTR-T. (Neither of them is really similar in concept to the vehicle series they are named after, BMP and BTR, but hey, its their weapons programs...) The official designation now that procurement is underway is T-72 Ramka.

It looks like the Ramka will have armored boxes with quad missile tubes on each side of the turret rather than the pair of exposed tubes most pictures show right now.

Jacques,

I tried to do a search on T72 Ramka. the info that I got seemed to indicate that "Ramka" was their new gunsight, mounted as an upgrade on several different vehicles (I think T72, BMP-3, etc...). Do I need to look deeper? I'm puzzled

Here are some of the ways I know of to find info on the BMP-T/ Ramka:

1. Go to Army Recognition and you have to pay to see the pics.

2. Go to Jedsite and try the free trial. It is also a pay site.

3. Go to Tanknet , and look in the AFV Forum for threads on the T-72 or the History of Soviet tanks. You read through it all, you will find all SORTS of interesting stuff.

Hope that gets you going in the proper direction...
