Unfortunately, I have a lot of Sherman pictures with details, but none on how the transmission cover aligns with the rest of the hull. I want to replace one kit cover with a Formations piece, but am not clear how to align it with the rest of the hull. I get the idea the transmission section is narrower than the rest of the hull, plus the cover edge is slightly lower down. Are there any pictures or other specifics? Thanks.

Hi Tom,

I'm no expert on these things but it might help if you told us what version you're building and what type of transmission you intent to fit ie 3 piece or cast, etc.

The transmission has to align with the base of the hull whether it sits a bit lower or not and should naturally fir around the curve of the front drive wheel brackets.

Someone more technical/experienced than me could explain it better. Hopefully they will pick up on your post.

Cheers

The transmission cover is indeed narrower than the rest of the hull. Basically, from just in front of the front-most bogie it is narrower. On some kits, most in fact, this is molded as part of the lower hull, but it's really all part of the tran cover, as per the formations parts.
