Hi guys,
Below are some pics of a DML 1/16th scale SS machine gunner, It's standing on a base with space for a plaque and I can't think of what should go onto it! Over to you guy's to think of a good name for this figure then!
I built it over a year ago and it promptly fell of a shelf and broke, leaving me to do a quick repair job over christmas. I've noticed there is crack in the plaster of the base which i'll get onto fixing, but any other comments/questions on the build and painting are much appreciated.

James

Hi James,

Nice figure you have done !
For the figure plate the title could be ss infrantry, battle of the buldge, although it's not quite original...
If I may permit some remarks : on the groundwork, the grass doesn't look natural. Maybe you could add a trunk or bushes (without leaves) between the grass to brake the uniformity.
For the uniform, I think the overcoat could be depicted as a ss zeltbahn, but intially he worn a US raincoat or something like that, which is normally olive drab. I may be wrong, but I remember this was written on the back of the 1/35 figures of the Ambush at Poteau set...
But it will be a wasted work to repaint your nice camo.
Anyway, I think it's the best 1/16 figure Dragon have released and you did quite a nice job on the camo.
Hope this help,
Julien

"Anstarren Tausend Meter" which if Babel Fish is correct is "thousand yard stare". You figure reminds me the a battle weary veteren with that far off look in his eyes. Very nicely done. I wouldn't change a thing.....

Gday James
Julien is right about what/where the figure is modelled from.
The fifth panzer army at the Losheim gap attacked the and knocked out a column of the 14th cavalry, and this soldier is photgraphed with others showing enjoying their spoils of war, namely some U.S.cigarettes, sidearms, jackets etc. hence your figure's 'acquired' weapon...
It was more a celebration than the wearisome appearance that he displays, especially at the start of Ardennes Offensive so maybe "Spoils of war" could be an option?
Cheers
Brad
P.S. Great looking figure by the way!
