Anybody know which company in the 14th Tank Battalion had the Pershings?

If so what were the numbers on the hull front/rear?

I just want my Pershing to look spot on so if I could find out which platoon/s had them it would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance.

Gday Des
I know that Company A 14TB 27AIB as part of CCB of 9AD had the Pershing, used in their taking of Remagen and some bridgey thing there... The Pershing was too big to cross, so they sent Shermans to secure the opposing side.
Not too sure on the marking configuration though...
Hope that helps some
Cheers

Thanks Brad.

So its narrowed down to A Company, 14th Tank Battalion. Now I just need platoon numbers if there are any experts out there who wouldn't mind sharing their knowledge.

In March to April 1945 9th AD only had 10 Pershings. Would it be safe to say they made up 1st and 2nd Platoon, A Company?

By May the Division had 17 but it is the Remagen time frame I am hoping to depict.

The five tanks of Company A of the 14TB were their own autonomous unit -- it wasn't broken down to platoons. At the taking of the Ludendorff bridge, Lt. Grimball was in charge of the five T26E3s.

They were:

1) serial no. 22, registration 31009832
2) ser 27, reg 31009837
3) ser 28, reg 30119838
4) ser 35, reg 31110945
5) ser 39, reg 30119849

It's safe to assume the hull codes would have been for the first tank listed:

9/_14/_ on the right front

and A-22 on the left front

The registration nos. would have been centered on the side bin. There's no indication which Pershing was Lt. Grimballs' AFAIK

(Info from Hunnicutt's Pershing Book"

Thank you very much Roy. Priceless information!!!

So the left front numbers would be A22, A27, A28, A35 and A39?

I presume Lt Grimballs tank was A22.

Thanks again Roy.

Its the Tamiya Pershing. I bought it months ago but have never got around to doing it. Been busy with a Dragon M4A3E8, still not quite finished.

I have a 75mm Sherman, also Tamiya and a jeep. I was hoping to put together a small scene depicting the Company commanders jeep and a company HQ Sherman with the Pershing commander getting a brief from the Coy CO while the crews interact. Sometime in the push for the bridge. Hopefully I will get time to get something done soon and get some photos on here.
