Has there been a compaign on the work horse M-113 in the past? If not, who out there would be interested in joining on for one? Just trying to get a pulse for who would be interested. Thanks, "Q"

2 Campaigns related to the M113 have been run on the site. 1st was Bucket Bonanza (2005) and 2nd was b Bucket Bonanza, Rest of the World M113 (2006, I was the leader for that one).

IŽll be more than happy to join to another one....

I remember building a 1/72 W. German M113A1 ambulance, but I don't recall getting a medal for the campaign. Was there ever a campaign medal awarded?

Hope there is another one soon. I built the Tamiya M113 a long time ago and it was a fun memorable build.

I remember that one, but the last info you gaved about it was yet "in progress". IŽve awarded your ribbon now. The rest of the finished entries alredy have theirs.

You can never build Enough Gavins. I would jump @ another campaign considering I miss the last ones.

Since it has been done multiple times in the past, I was thinking of doing something else. Open up the possibilities for other subjects. More info to follow. "Q"

Gavins? Spoken like someone who has fallen for Mike Sparks' rhetoric.

Okay ... maybe a Super Gavin campaign?

"Like a what if ..." The M113 had to be pressed longer into service than had been intended, what would it look like? There are no Bradley's or Strykers, so that platform had to do.

M113A3s continue to be widely used in US service and have been around since 1988 (when I first saw the A3 in Germany). I doubt they will be retired anytime soon. The M1064A3 120mm mortar carrier will see service for another decade at least.

An improved M113 variant, called the MICV, was being tested as late as last year. It was a lengthened M113A3 with the bar armor and other standard modifications that have been done to current in-service 113s.

Thanks Rob for that insight! I just remember seeing a pic of M113's being 'shoved' off the deck into the ocean not too long ago and it made me wonder.

That's part of the arms control and reduction treaties. You take very old vehicles and shove them out to make artifical reefs. Kills two birds with one stone.

Super Gavin campaign?

Even Wikipedia has it right. It's not called a Gavin. The 'bucket' is probably the best universal name.

How about all the different conversions and adaptations beyond it's original concept. All the different gun turrets, anti-aircraft versions, missile turrets, engineer vehicles, etc.

Bucket, Papa Chuck, PC, One-One-Three or just plain "Track" (as in get in the track). Anyone who uses the term Gavin has either fallen for Sparks' rantings or just read it online and never crewed them.

Paul, I was thinking along the same lines, something like "Buckets That Bite", something bigger than the normal .50 cal.

Thanks Paul, that's the idea I was trying to get at!
