Hello fellow modellers,
I would like to introduce a project I recently finished. An LVT-(A)1Alligator.
This was actually the third model I have ever buildt, then I placed in in a corner and started working on other stuff. Just recently I decided to give it some paint and finish it.
It was a great deal of fun painting the "gator". Since I am still fairly new to the whole modelling business, I was just rying different techniques.
It was a first for me to do filters. Which I absolutely loved doing. It is amazing how the whole look of the model just changes with a little oil paint and a few brush strokes. Since I decided to try different techniques on this one I have to say that of course I learned a lot and I also figured which steps during painting are useful and which aren't. I tried to create permanent water stains in the front, which were dried out by the sun. I also tried to create salt remains on the tracks, from wadding in the water on the beaches. Anyway, I experimented a lot and it was fun.
Anyway, please have a look at the pics yourself. The first picture shows the "gator" after a coat of dark sea gray and a few highlights placed on spots that were exposed to sunlight the most.
By the way I am sorry about the picture quality,.. the ones I took outside turned out ok, the ones I took inside though, show the model in an overall very red-ish look. In natural the tank does not look like this at all.
Anyway, as I said, it was fun and I have learned a lot.
Now see yourself!
Hope ya'll like it!
Cheers
Heli

hi steve
i love it.... you`ve done a great job on this...
which kit is it.. italieri?
like the idea of aplying the decals before you paint the final coat
give`s them a nice faded and worn look
thank´s for sharing it

The markings and paint scheme make it look like the Revell of Germany reboxing of the Italeri kit. Very nicely done.

Very nice!
The star with the blue almost made me think this was an advertisement for Tamiya.

Hi,
Thx for the comments guys!
It is the Revell kit I used. Assembly was pretty easy and without complications! I got it for 10,- EUR in a bargain corner at a model fair.
Cheers,
Heli
