What is the best colour for 50 cal. machineguns, and are there handles wood?

I usually paint mine very dark gray and then rub graphite (from a pencil) on machine guns. I think it makes a pretty good gun metal look. And yes, the charge handle on the side and the two grips at the rear were wood. Now they are either some type of composite or painted wood, since they are black.
