Ola everybody.

As I`m still waiting for my stinky Ab nozzle to arrive I had to put some things aside because I can`t work further on it. one of these projects is the rusty Hanomag thingy.
So I made a step to the side and started a new dio/vignette project. The figures are the DML paratroopers. Operation Varsity. Built OOTB and I added the chinstraps and rifle slings on it.
For the dio itself I had some nice and lovely village house in mind and I already took pics of an old house in our village. But as I was painting the figs another idea came up.
I had still an old thing laying around that was only collecting dust. So i grabbed it saw some great opportunities in it and well here is the progress so far.
i thought the figs were actually finished but when I took the pics i saw a lot of parts that really need to be retouched with some paints. So the figs are not completely finished. Also the eyes I`m not so satisfied about
well here are the pics:

Very cool. You gonna leave it on the steel pot? One of the coolest dioramas I ever saw was in a teacup on a saucer.

Wow - Great job. I know your work and it's ALLL GOOD so when you say you see stuff go for it. All I have to say it Great Job. Can't wait to see the dio. And I love the way you stick to prooven methods of building walls - the 'meat tray' way!

Is the helmet the base? Tell us Tell us.

Mmmmmhhh

I just saw I posted one pic two times in this topic

well here it is then
guys thanks for the replies so far

Keenan: Yes the dio is going to stay on top of the helmet

Slodder: Thank you for the kind words. And yes I actually build all my structures in the so called "meat tray way" that`s because I have enough in stock to rebuilt the entire cities of Eindhoven and Arnhem in ww2 style and then I still have foam left to make the village where I live :-) :-) :-)

Firstly ...... Those DML figures are excellent. The detail is amazing. what serial number are they. I want them!

Love the idea of using the helmet. Check out this!

this idea of incorporating a piece of real gear into a dio is so cool. Looking forward to see it finished. Its a pity the helmet didnt have the webbing of the paras helemts.

One other thing Faust is .... if you are gonna touch up some things .... it would be cool if the uniforms had some different shades of green. Faded and new gear looks the part!

This is the kit of wich figures I used
DML 6148 - U.S. ARMY AIRBORNE (OPERATION VARSITY 1945)

good figures, idem fit, some nice extra weapons etc.

I really love the pic you`ve posted That`s a way to go around with old things you have laying around.
Same with the helmet I have that thing for years and it was only laying on the shelf collecting dust. So I thought why not.
About the webbing...... mmmmmhhhh good idea. lets see what the dumpstore offers about this or the second hand store and maybe I have to be creative again myself :-) :-)
i keep you updated

and actually the uniforms have some of those parts but they don`t come out that well on the pics. But I`ll look for that when I`m retouching them

Thanks for the comments

Looks great Faust! I can't wait to see the completed dio. Are you going to scratch-build the house-ruin?

Greetings, John.

John '

Hey, Faust... REALLY good job! I'm currently doing the same figures, but unlike the 101 and 82nd Abn troops of that period, there are no references to the unit these guys are attatched to... I know the 17th Abn was predominant in the operation, but I don't know if they had unit patches on their uniforms... Any idea?

Figures look great! To me the helmet looks too big for use as a base as the figures seem to get lost on it.

Cheers, Michael
