Sadly, the T-34-85 is an unimaginitive green now, but it still remains a sensible choice for driving around Peckham

Ah, the Pink Panther Camoflauge scheme, first used by the Russians in 1945 as they creeped towards Berlin.
It was believed that the Germans would die from laughter at the sight of these tanks.
:-)

I'll tell you what, I'll paint my next T-34 like that, i've got the Dragon T-34/85 with bedspring armour kit somewhere.
Now.... what about the colours? :-)

Scott.

I saw a web story about the ladies painting the tank pink somewhere out there and my impression was that many of those ladies would be unintetrested in our attention given our gender.

Well, my girlfriend saw it on the net and decided to build one, provided I paid for it... Thank goodness for old Tamiya kits! Her first build btw...

Now, where can i find the "panzer grenadiers" in the pics in 1/35 scale...

You may be thinking of the Abbot that was used by Amnesty International at Gay Pride

I'd do it, but only to a kit that wasn't too expensive or difficult to build. I'm sure my daughter would love it!

Out of curiousity, are the ladies in the second pic famous, as in singers, etc? It seem to be pro shot. And they have their kids with them. Interesting.

They're all identified in the first pic in my link and googling their names shows they're artists, with Aleksandra Mir being the most widely known, though her stuff must have been added to the Saatchi Gallery since I went there.

I was just about to post that little known fact, which was the source of Senator McCarthy's "Commie Pinko" statement used in the 1950's.

I would do the pink tank if I could get some babe figures to go with it. Better yet, "Winsome Warriors" babe figures and the pink tank.

Interesting to see that this can be the way to make women approach to modelling! At least they will share our passion and bear us!

When I was young and growing up in Pennsylvania the local Guard or Reserve unit painted on of their M-48's pink as part of a recruiting initiative. They called it the Pink Panther, and it had a representation of the cartoon cat on the turret. The first time I saw it was when the movie "Patton" came out. They parked it outside the movie theater. The last time I saw it was about a year later when a couple of my childhood friends and I were sitting on a hilltop enjoying a Sunday afternoon, when it drove by on the highway below us. That was the first time I ever heard a tank and I remember the distinctive sound to this day.

I've thought about modeling it, but I've never been able to find pics of it.

I like these as a statement, really. My folks have given me a hard time on my hobby of painting tanks (since I'm a pacifist who quit compulsory military service after a week), and doing something like this between projects would be nice. That or a 1/35 hippie bus....

I saw that too in Pa growing up. Had to be about 1970-72, I think. I even contacted the Pa National Guard about it a couple years ago and no luck with pictures.
