For those of you who don't wander over to Aeroscale, here is a link to check out my completed 1/35 HH-60G in desert camo. It is at the bottom of the Completed Helo campaign thread. Hope you like it.

Thanks guys. The Academy H-60 kits are great. I have done all 3 versions. They are pretty well tooled and will build into pretty accurate models straight out of the box. With the Cobra Company upgrade sets or some scratch-building, they can come out great. Check this thread for more info on them. I love them and have a couple more in the stash to do up as other versions

Nice work Gino. You mentioned that Mother supplied the Stokes. Did he make it? Also, where did you get the long spine board? I'm currently working on the Humvee ambulance and I think the crew could use a backboard or two.

Thanks guys. Glad you like it. Yes, Mother made the Stokes out of soldered wire. It came out great. The backboard came out of the ProArt DumVee conversion set.

Howdy Gino how ya doin' bud?

Just checked out your finished bird over on the Aeroscale side of the site.....as usual, you've done an outstanding job. And I'm tickled to hear that it was at least a little bit of a team effort as well. What with the Stokes supplied by mother and the other ingredients you mentioned being part of the project......an example of great additons to an already great helo build

Tread.

Very cool Gino! I would have missed it if you didn't post a link to it here. I have to get out around the 'Network more often.

I especially like it because it is an Air Force bird - near and dear to my heart.

Thanks guys.

Yup, it was sort of a joint effort. Thanks to all those who supplied pieces and info.

Gotta build yourself one of these AF birds Gunnie. It will be a tribute to your service.

Another excellent build Gino. I know nothing about this kit and am wondering if the fuselage came as two halves. If so, how did you manage to clean up the seams so perfectly? And did you paint after installing the canopy? If so, what did you use to mask it? I just got into aircraft and helos and these are two of my most perplexing areas of concern on these types of kits.

Yup, two halves for the fuselage. It goes together pretty well and only needs a little putty on the underside and a little on the tail boom. The rest is just sanded smooth glue ooze from the joint. I did paint it with the canopy in place. I tape off the clear portions with regular masking tape. Before I paint it though, I seal the edges of the masking tape by spraying on glosscote first. That way you don't get any paint seeping under the tape.

Good luck.

Looks excellent Gino. Have never built a chopper, and when seeing this, it really makes me want to try one .... I guess thats a compliment also!
Whats are stokes? People like meself who keep feet firmly planted on the ground, havent a clue about such terms. Having all the doors open, and seeing all the details, it really is an eye-catcher. Nice one.

I saw a built Chinook (Trumpeter) at a recent show and was very impressed. Rush of dio ideas immediately. But where to put it?? Any plans to build one of those?

Now that is one good looking helicopter.

Ive always fancied doing a 1/48 CH53. Are there any manufacturers that do one?

Thanks guys.

Frank - The Stokes Litter is the basket attached to the floor. It is used to haul up injured patients with the hoist. I do have the Trumpeter CH-47A. Not sure what I am going to do with it yet though. It is a big b!t@h.

Panzer - There are a couple 1/48th CH-53 models. There is the old Revell CH-53C/D kit, it was also boxed as a German CH-53G. It is a pretty good kit, but lacks good interior details. Cobra Company and Meteor Productions have some great detail sets for it though. Academy has just recently released a CH-53E Super Stallion kit. It is excellent in and out. I happen to have one that I would be willing to trade. Check out my post in the Buy, Sell, Trade Forum to see what I am looking for.
