Did the Battalion or company commanders tanks have any distinguishing differences than normal platoon vehicles? Such as extra antennas or such like.

I'm not sure which vehicle you are building, but yes, there was an extra antenna installed. I'm sure the vehicle number reflected this, also.

I know that in some units the commander's tank might not continue the tradition of naming the tank starting with the first letter of the company. For example the Sherman Kokomo was a commander's tank, and not of K company. Depending on the unit and the time frame they might have had certain markings.

Im thinking of attempting a M4A3 76mm Sherman (The Dragon Battle of the Bulge kit) but wasn't sure whether to add an extra antenna, or for that matter where to put it.

Where to put it is the easy part: The empty antenna pot on the glasis was for the second, command radio antenna, which was usually mounted in the sponson near the ass't driver.
Which actual tank to model? Well, there you should dig up an appropriate photo and build from that.
