YES ! YES ! YES ! Took quite some time before i could finish this dio........you know how it goes; busy with studies, busy with work and before you know it you're a year further!
As this is my first "real" try for a good looking dio, i spent alot of time gathering info from this site on techniques for groundwork, painting etc and i must say that im very pleased with the results! Thanks all for your great help!

The diorama represents german troops fiercely defending a stronghold somewhere in The Reich. So, with that in mind, i named the dio "Defense of The Reich".
The bunker has a Pak 40 in it, while a french Renault 35 tank turret covers the other side of the bunker. Meanwhile, german infantry goes in the attack to drive the allied forces back, leaving several casualties. Behind the bunker, reinforcements arrive: a Marder II prepares itself to enter the fight!

It looks fantastic Thor. In my opinion, the only missing part is sandbags, they look so artificial.why you dont try to make sandbags using putty?

Dolf,

That is one great diorama, I agree about the sandbags, making themself is not hard.

On the bunker there are some metal airvent covers, you could apply some rust there because these parts corrode very fast (thined burt sienna oil paint)

I realy like the bunker and the netting, very convincing, which company is the bunker from?

I also like your groundwork, the bunker realy sits in the ground instead of on top of if

Good work

Thanks for the reactions everyone!

I have some Italeri putty hanging around........ill see if i can make some sandbags.
The bunker is a Verlinden Kit i bought a couple of years ago.
The camouflage nets are also a Verlinden product. First i painted some dark green camo on them and then I did some tearing and cutting to make it look a bit damaged/worn.

Really Excellent dio Thor. When I was looking through the pictures I noticed the sand bags and how they stood out. But I see Im not the only one who felt these are little out of place. I love the layout of the whole dio. I love the pic where the marder seems to be coming around the corner! Everything is layed out so well. So the 1 year was well spent and you have a beauty to show for your labour! Hopefully your next dio will come around much sooner. Look out for the 2nd dio competition on here!

Yes - everyone notice those DARN TAMIYA SANDBAGS.... I found a way around them... once you have them "line up and in place, hit them for 5 minutes with your wife's hot air gun. It will make 'em saggy and soft, and then you can kneed and push them into a more realistic position. The only danger is any nearby figures or accessories... you have to clear them out of the way before you turn on the juice... no one wants a soggy arm or leg on a figure!

Awesome job!!! That bunker looks great. As others have said, the only thing that really sticks out is the "flat" looking sandbags, but that can be easily fixed. Still, it looks great.

Great one nice feeling after one year working on it.
May I make one suggestion of critics.
Your soldiers are very clean for the military of ex military as I did hoped sometimes that would stay clean but unforntunatly not. So for the modelliste is the next dilema what is important durty or not durty that s the question

Ahh....okay. Everyone needs to calm down a bit.

Dolf,
You might try using the MSN group photo area (like our area on MSN) rather than the photo one. They are probably changing the URL to stop people from using the service as an image host.

You can always submit them to the site! [email protected]

Hope to see them eventually!

Cheers,
Jim

Hehe, sorry everyone. Wasnt paying attention to the site......reason.......of course, what else........i was modeling

I fixed the links again, so the photos should be visible again !

Jimm,
Ill try the MSN group photo area, thanks for the tip!
And i'd like to submit the photo's to the site, but i think the size of them would be a bit of a problem atm. They're all 700+ Kb. Im still waiting for some software my brother would get me to tackle this problem. I did try Paint, the only program i have atm to work with photo's, but it reduces the quality of the pics.
Once reduced, ill send them over!
